First-Generation Parent and Family Spring Reception

Navigating the university experience can be hard for any new family, but when your student is the first family member to go to college, there are different questions and challenges. There’s no better way to help your student (and yourself) get the most out of their OSU experience than connecting with fellow first-generation Beaver families and students.

Join the OSU Alumni Association in partnership with EOP-First, with or without your student, for this fun and casual event where you will:

  • Meet fellow parents, families and students going through the university experience for the first time.

  • Swap stories, share laughter and enjoy light refreshments in this fun kickoff to OSU’s Spring Parent and Family Weekend.

  • Hear from Harnit Mahal, a first-generation OSU student and graduate teaching assistant from the College of Liberal Arts.

  • Learn how to support the academic, personal and professional development of your student.

  • Hear from campus leaders about the benefits of getting involved at OSU.

Following this reception, join the greater OSU campus community for the annual Parent and Family Spring Social, where you can continue to mingle with families new to university life and others who go back several generations with Oregon State and have plenty of advice and stories to share!
