Vice President of Alumni Relations, Executive Director of the Oregon State University Alumni Association
Kathy Bickel is the Vice President of Alumni Relations, Executive Director of the Oregon State University Alumni Association (OSUAA). Serving as a member of the President’s cabinet, she is responsible for fostering campus partnerships and supporting the University mission. As executive director of the OSUAA she serves as the chief alumni officer for Oregon State University and has general institutional responsibility for the leadership, organization, management, and implementation of the University’s comprehensive alumni program. Kathy provides leadership and management of the OSU Alumni Association, an independent not-for-profit corporation formed to promote the University and its services and programming.
Kathy oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of programs for the nearly 175,000 living alumni. As publisher of the Oregon Stater alumni magazine, she supports the university with strategic messaging to graduates and friends. Working in conjunction with the Foundation, Kathy maintains the OSU Alumni Association’s access to the alumni database and all related alumni resources. Kathy leads a staff of 22 in activities that support the nearly 15,000 members. She also oversees the management of the CH2M Hill Alumni Center, a 25,000 square foot facility that serves the association, university, and general public.
Prior to coming to Oregon State University, Kathy spent 19 years as Vice President at the Ohio State University Alumni Association where she lead a staff of 23 in the operation, budgeting, and strategic visioning of the club, society, association events, student programs, career management, conference services, travel program, and student recruitment areas. Kathy is a results oriented, high energy, hands on advancement professional with a successful record of accomplishments in board and volunteer management, strategic planning and leadership.
Kathy earned two degrees from The Ohio State University- a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Masters Degree in labor and human resource management.
Kathy has presented workshops to a variety of groups on creativity, networking, advancement, career management and team-building; authored four articles that were published in a professional journal, and a chapter in an alumni relations book. She received a CASE award for her public presentations and the Alumni Forman Fellowship for her work in alumni relations. Her husband is a retired football coach and she is blessed to have 3 children and 7 beautiful grandchildren.
