The Magic Pill – The Role of Physical Activity for the Prevention and Management of Chronic Conditions
Physical activity taken in appropriate dosages is THE magic pill.  It is proven to reduce the risk of most all chronic conditions (e.g. osteoporosis, heart disease, falls, diabetes).  This talk will present the research around the benefits of physical activity in older adulthood, and the appropriate amount and types of physical activity necessary to combat several common chronic conditions.

12:00 - 1:30 pm - Luncheon
Dean of Student Life, Mamta Accapadi will share how life is on campus with over 20,000 students!  What it means to be a student today on campus and how they go about an normal day with classes, jobs, social activities. Visit the Dean of Student Life's  webpage .

The Honorable Margaret Carter, Deputy Director of the Oregon Department of Human Services
Margaret has helped craft legislation in critical areas including education, social justice, civil rights, environmental protection and many more.  Now in her position as Deputy Director of the Oregon Department of Human Services, she is on the front line of helping children and families in Oregon. Hear how we’re doing as a state and what’s making the difference for Oregon families.

2:45 pm - 4:00 pm - Campus Tour
Board busses and lets take a drive through campus.  On the way you will learn about and see the new construction on campus.  The Linus Pauling Institute, Into Learning Center, and Outdoor Recreation Complex are just some of the locations currently under construction.
